Charity fund raising

MJS  Quiz / Bingo / Awards Evening 2018 / 2019
+ Making Boycie Bing Bong Bionic Fund

An amazing amount of fab prizes were once again donated for the raffle this year and we raised £132 for charity. This year the proceeds are going to the Making Boycie Bing Bong Fund to enable Boycie, our rescue trip-coloured border collie, to have his second hip replacement. With this raffle, online auctions, a psychic evening by Gail Francis, Boycie's Boxes game and much more we have raised over £4000. A huge thank you to all involved...you are amazing!

MJS Agility Quiz / Presentation Evening Raffle

once again our members were extremely generous with both their raffle prize donations and purchasing raffle tickets. Together we raised £128 for the Animal Helpline charity which, at the request of the charity, was used to purchase a bulk lot of Kong Classic treat toys for the dogs in their care.
See below just some of the many raffle prizes that were donated.

Julie's Sponsored Head Shave

Julie raised £1030 in donations for Animal Helpline Charity by doing a sponsored head shave on Saturday 15th May 2016.
The shave was very kindly carried out by Julie's regular hairdresser, Greg Warren of The End, Bourne.
In total we donated a grand total of £2030 to the charity as the club members chose to donate the charity monies already raised via various raffles etc.

Christmas Donations to Animal Helpline

We delivered the impressive collection of donated gifts to Animal Helpline at Wansford, Nr Peterborough in January. They were extremely grateful.

We are looking at doing more to raise funds for them throughout the year.

The beautiful Kiara showing in the photo below is looking for her forever home. She is an Akita cross and approximately 3 years old.

Christmas raffle raises more funds

Our members were very generous with their donations for the Christmas raffle again this year. We raised an amazing £153! Thank you so much to all who donated and / or brought tickets.

Donation given in memory

We have had a very generous donation of £100 go into our Charity Fund, given by Julia Scrimshaw who trains her gorgeous spaniel, Millie with us. The donation came from the estate of her late mother who sadly passed away earlier this year. Julia's mum always asked how Millie was doing at training etc and so Julia felt it was a gesture she would have been pleased about. Our condolences go to Julia and her family.

Great boost to our Wheelchair Fund Charity

Picture
Our member, Nicky Laybourn, who attends classes with her Doberman Sasha, has obtained a wonderful donation towards our Wheelchair Fund from her employers, Cummins of Stamford. They have paid £500 into our charity account! A huge boost to the fund which now stands at a balance of £1285.50. A huge thank you to both Nicky & Cummins, we are overwhelmed and really pleased that the charity is going so well :)

Thank you letter

We have received a letter from Helen Perkins, one of our members who is also the Fundraising Organiser for 3 Counties Dog Rescue, thanking us for allowing the charity to have its stall at our Open Day again this year. They raised a total of £73.76 through their Bric-a-brac & Tombola stall.

Funds raised update

An update to the total raised through our Open Day for the Wheelchair Fund. Sam & Jess, members that run Ted & Leo the two spaniels, made and sold cakes on a stall at the Open Day. The money raised came to £60. Adding this to the £257.50 already raised brings us to £317.50 for the Open Day alone. We have so far had three sales of the photos taken on the day by Graham Riddle, (please see the slide show below), raising a further £19. The grand total now stands at £785.50! :)

Open Day Photos

Photos of our Open Day May 2014 in the slide show below. These are available to purchase for £1 each in aid of our Motorised Wheelchair Fund for disabled handlers. Please contact us to order. All purchased photos will be sent to you via e mail without the watermark and in high resolution so you can print / use. The photos were kindly taken by Graham Riddle, the partner of Emma who trains with Hettie in our puppy class.

MJS Agility Open Day 2014

Our Open day on Sunday 4th May was a huge success. A massive thank you to all the members that attended and ran in the demo's and to those that helped man the 'Have a Go Agility' area. We had an amazing amount of prizes for the raffle donated which we are extremely grateful for and a lovely cake made by Jacqueline with Flynn for the 'Guess the Weight of the Cake' competition which was won by Mog with Charlie. Ollie Hutton, Julie's son, donated a lovely cuddly dog toy for the 'Guess the Name of the Dog' competition.....for anyone that missed the draw...his name was Puddles and was won by Wilma Riddle. A big thank you to Mary who used to attend the club with her boxer Molly until injury caused her hobby to cease, Mary stayed all day and worked on the raffle, cake & dog stall for us. Thanks also go to, Edwina Male who sold handmade cards donated by her wheelchair bound niece, Lorraine Engledow who makes them. The cards raised £23.00 :) Rutland Sports held a raffle for two tickets to see the Rugby match between Leicester Tigers & Saracens at their shop in Bourne, raising £34 for our charity :) And finally another thank you to all those that helped both set up and put away, we really do apprieciate all the help given :) We raised a total of £257.50 for the Wheelchair Fund!! The husband of our member Emma, who trains with her dog Hetty, took lots of photographs on the day....many will have noticed him when the dogs went to say 'Hi' at the side of the ring....and they will be added to our web site asap for purchase....all proceeds to go to the Wheelchair Fund. This was a lovely surprise as she had not told us he was taking them for us.

All the quizzes have been marked and we are pleased to announce the winner of the £50 prize was Mr & Mrs Mytton of Stamford who was the only entrant to get all 100 answers correct. They collected their prize today.
A huge thank you to Ian Duncan for designing, printing and marking the quizz for us and to all the members who brought and sold the quizz sheets, between you all we have raised £136  towards the Electric Wheelchair Fund :)

Xmas 2013 Fund Raising Results

Picture
A huge well done to our members again this year, they helped us collect three bulging xmas sacks of toys, treats, food etc for the rescue dogs at The Dogs Trust in Loughborough. As well as these goodies they collected four more large sacks of towels and bedding to help make the dogs lives whilst in kennels a little more comfortable.
On top of this those attending the Xmas Quiz Nite on Saturday 14th Dec helped us raise a total of £234 towards our Mobility Charity (see below for details). This added to our monies already raised means we have a total of £312. An amazing start to the collection. Thankyou to all involved :)

Fun Raising to help disabled handlers at MJS Agility

We are trying to raise enough funds to enable us to purchase a suitable wheel chair for the club so that our current, and hopefully new, disabled members can come along and enjoy 'running' their dogs too. As you will see from the video clip below of Margaret & Ollie the wheel chair they are currently using struggles with the ground, especially when its wet. With some models of wheel chair available this would be less of a problem and would enable the handler to get a smoother run which is better for both handler and dog. We need to raise approximately £7000 so its no mean feat but with hardwork and dedication we are sure we can get there. We welcome any ideas re fund raising :)
